Beauty is the Heart

Let me tell you a story about my friend.

This was the time when my friend lived on the Valley Isle

Who could enrich his terrible poverty of loneliness?

How could he fill the hours that were idle?

Then one day providence shined upon him

Into their very home he was welcomed

Thereupon on his lips broke a thanksgiving hymn

That family: their looks, living art

They were doubly blessed

They had true beauty. Their beauty was their heart.

‘… . For it is from within, from men’s hearts, that evil intentions emerge: …, folly. …’[1]

I knew of a young lady who had gotten a child out-of-wedlock. I asked her how it happened. She said, ‘I do not want to talk about it.’ She paused then added, ‘so stupid…’.

A friend of mine heard a similar statement from his wife when they were going through a very rough patch in their marriage: troubles stemming from unfaithfulness. After a pause in deep thought, she said, ‘so stupid!…”.

I have often pondered…

CCC 1872 Sin is an act contrary to reason.

Most Holy Virgin answered: …

“Dearest Mother, Most Holy Virgin: You are my Mother; please place me under your protection. You are my Health; please take me happily within your fold so that I may not wish for anything else. Let me hear you and understand well that even though I am your son, the most least, nothing should frighten or grieve me or let my heart be disturbed. Let me not fear any sickness or anguish and let me not be grieved nor be disturbed by anything. Let me not be afflicted by the sufferings and misfortunes of body and soul of my family and friends. Let them not die now from them and please procure their cure.[1]

“Please intercede for me with your Son, my brother, so that he bequeaths me his own peace, that he gives me his own peace, a peace which the world cannot give, his free gift to me so that my heart will neither be troubled nor be afraid.[2]

“The most manifest sign of wisdom is continued cheerfulness.”– So and So

A conversation, a kind that occurs between a sister and a brother:

She, the eldest, said to him, ‘Dad told me that there is a kind a knowledge not obtained through books, but only gotten through living life…’.

And he also discovered a wisdom that comes only through holiness of life.

“Oh, how I love thy law! It is my meditation all the day, Thy commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me, I have more understanding than all my teachers, for thy testimonies are my meditation.”[1]

Jack Lew and Daniel

Jack Lew, White House chief of staff Jacob(?)

“Jack” Lew isn’t the first Jewish White House chief of staff, or even the first observant Jewish White House chief of staff.

Daniel, who was most anxious not defile himself with the food and wine from the royal table, begged the chief eunuch to spare him this defilement; and by grace of God Daniel met goodwill and sympathy on the part of the chief eunuch.[1]

The observant Jew knows:

“You are no G_d who loves evil;

no sinner is your guest.

The boastful shall not stand their ground

before your face

You hate all who do evil;

you destroy all who lie

The deceitful and bloodthirsty man (the President/the Administration and abortion) –and what thirst! All around the world!

the LORD detests.

No truth can be found in their mouths (like bottom up economics casting doubt on the authenticity of his christianity. It is top down that works. From the LORD through a good leader, who provides for his people.)

their heart is all mischief

their throat a wide-open grave,

All honey their speech.

-The promised king.

…the love of G_d, …

…the love of G_d, …[1]

Q. Why did God make you?
A. God made me to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world, and to be happy with Him for ever in heaven.[2]

Wait…there is more…

  1. G_d said, ‘let us make man in our own image, in the likeness of ourselves, and let them be masters of the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven, the cattle, all the wild beasts and all the reptiles that crawl upon the earth’.

G_d created man in the image of himself,

in the image of G_d he created him,

male and female he created them.

G_d blessed them saying to them, ‘Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and conquer it. Be masters of the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven and all living animals on earth.’…And so it was. G_d saw all he had made, and indeed it was very good. Evening came and morning came: the sixth day.[3]

2. Yes, G_d so loved the world so much

that he gave his only Son,

so that everyone who believes in him may not be lost

but may have eternal life.[4]

3. The proof that you are sons is that G_d has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts: the Spirit that cries, ‘Abba, Father’, and it is this that makes you a son, you are not a slave any more; and if G_d has made you a son , then he has made you heir.[5]

In summary:

G_d made us through G_d for G_d, the G_d through whom the world might be saved and this G_d sends us G_d (Altissimum donum Dei), another advocate, from G_d to conform us into the image of G_d by whom we will come to G_d.[6]

His Mother, our Mother…[7]

…be transformed into what we consume,[8]

Ah!…the love of G_d!

[5] Cf. Ga4:6-7 and “My son, you are with me always and all I have is yours….”(Cf. Lk15:31)

Abba, Father!

Abba, Father![1]

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples.”[2]

At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father, …[3]

  1. 1Jn3:1Think of the love that the Father has lavished on us, by letting us be called God’s children; and that is what we are.
  2. 1Jn3:2My dear people, we are already the children of God but what we are to be in the future has not yet been revealed; all we know is, that when it is revealed we shall be like him because we shall see him as he really is.
  3. Mt5:44-46But I say this to you: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you; in this way you will be sons of your Father in heaven,  for he causes his sun to rise on bad men as well as good, and his rain to fall on honest and dishonest men alike.
  4. Mt5:48You must therefore be perfect just as your heavenly Father is perfect.
  5. Mt6:3-4But when you give alms, your left hand must not know what your right is doing; your almsgiving must be secret, and you Father who sees all that is done in secret will reward you. (Cf. Mt6:17-18).
  6. 2S7:4/1Ch17:13I will be a father to him and he a son to me.
  7. Rm8:19-20The whole creation is eagerly waiting for God to reveal his sons.
  8. Rm8:14-17Everyone moved by the Spirit is a son of God. The spirit you received is not the spirit of slaves bringing fear into your lives again; it is the spirit of sons, and it makes us cry out, ‘Abba, Father!’The Spirit himself and our spirit bear united that we are children of God. And if we are children we are heirs as well: heirs of God and coheirs with Christ, sharing his sufferings so as to share his glory.
  9. Gal4:4-7but when the appointed time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born subject of the Law, to redeem the subjects of the Law and to enable us to be adopted as sons. The proof that you are sons is that God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts: the Spirit that cries, ‘Abba, Father’, and it is this that makes you a son, you are not a slave anymore; and if God has made you son, then he has made you heir.
  10. Mk14:36‘Abba (Father)!’ he said ‘Everything is possible for you. Take this cup away from me. But let it be as you, not I, would have it.’

He who knows himself to be a son of God – whether the seas are calm or when the storm rages – knows no fear. God knows best what our real needs are; he is stronger than we are, and he is our Father. We must react like the child who, in the middle of a storm, continued playing while the sailors feared for their lives: he was the captain’s son. When after disembarking the child was asked how he was able to remain at ease, surrounded as he had been by a roaring sea and a terrified crew, he answered: Fear? Why? My father was at the helm.[4]
