This Is It! Armaged′don!

This Is It! Armaged′don!

The Little Chapter. Cant. vi. 9. [PRIME]
Who is she that cometh forth as the morning rising, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army set in array?
R. Thanks be to God.
V. Vouchsafe that I may praise thee, O sacred Virgin.
R. Give me the strength against thine enemies.
V. O Lord, hear my prayer.
R. And let my cry come unto thee.

He has said to himself like Sennacherib, king of Assyria

“Thus shall you say to Hezekiah, king of Judah:
‘Do not let your God on whom you rely deceive you
by saying that Jerusalem will not be handed over
to the king of Assyria.
You have heard what the kings of Assyria have done
to all other countries: they doomed them!
Will you, then, be saved?’”

Cf. First Reading, Tuesday [June 23, 2020] of the Twelfth Week in Ordinary Time | Lectionary: 372

The Churches are now open. Let us go before the LORD and like Hezekiah, king of Judah, and before the Tabernacle, pray in the LORD’s presence:

“O LORD, God of Israel, enthroned upon the cherubim!
You alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth.
You have made the heavens and the earth.
Incline your ear, O LORD, and listen!
Open your eyes, O LORD, and see!
Hear the words of Sennacherib which he sent to taunt the living God.
Truly, O LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations
and their lands, and cast their gods into the fire;
they destroyed them because they were not gods,
but the work of human hands, wood and stone.
Therefore, O LORD, our God, save us from the power of this man,
that all the kingdoms of the earth may know
that you alone, O LORD, are God.”

Our Great God and Savior Jesus Christ will answer us. We know how this ends.

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON Cf. Ps 28 (27): 8-9

Dominus fortitudo plebis suae, et protector salutarium Christi sui est. Salvum fac populum tuum, Domine, et benedic hereditati tuae, et rege eos usque in saeculum.

The Lord is the strength of his people, a saving refuge for the one he has anointed. Save your people, Lord, and bless your heritage, and govern them for ever.

Ant. [LAUDS]: O blessed Mother of God, Mary ever Virgin, temple of the Lord, sanctuary of the Holy Ghost; thou alone, without example, wast well-pleasing to our Lord Jesus Christ: pray for the people, mediate for the clergy; intercede for the devoted female sex.
