Is God Male AND Female?

From my comments here: What the ‘Early Church Parents’ said about God’s gender | Catholic Herald:

What does the Church teach?

CCC 370 In no way is God in man’s image. He is neither man nor woman. God is pure spirit in which there is no place for the difference between the sexes. But the respective “perfections” of man and woman reflect something of the infinite perfection of God: those of a mother and those of a father and husband.

“What the ‘Early Church Parents‘ said about God’s gender? This [words in-bold] is just foolish and adds to the confusion. To me, the confusion consistent with and a product of our sex-obsessed culture and influence by what Vatican termed as radical feminine themes. God has no gender as the article quotes St. Jerome.

What does Scripture say?

From the plain reading of Gn 1:7 (RSVCE) – So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them, and from Church teaching above, it appears that while God in neither male nor female and not in the image of man [no gender], he is Male AND Female [and made man in this image], and the better question might have been what is the understanding of this, and why is it God chose to reveal himself in male terms. In summary, in relation to man, God, who alone is Father [of Our LORD Jesus Christ as Jesus revealed him cf. CCC 240] unlike any other father, is father and husband to man and Israel, and Jesus, the Bridegroom, the husband to the Church, his Mystical Body and Bride.

From the revelation of the Son, that we should believe him that he is in the Father and the Father is in him [cf. Jn 14:11 (RSVCE)], within the Church there has come the understanding of circuminsession, the mutual immanence of the three distinct persons of the Holy Trinity. This is one of my understanding of God being Male & Female.

Endnote: I hope it does not escape readers that confusion regarding Trinity, the central mystery of the Christian faith and life, is at a time when there is widespread confusion about the nature of man himself [cf. gender ideology, radical feminism, “gay marriage”, etc.].

The Father communicates his whole divine essence to the Son [without alienating it from himself]. Here the Father is giving and the Son receiving. The way I see it, within the Godhead, each Person of the Blessed Trinity receives from and gives to Godhead. The Father, Being [=Good], the Son [Truth], and the Spirit [Love/Spirit/Ghost]. God generates the Son, they both breathe forth the Holy Spirit and … that’s why God is worshiped in Spirit and in Truth, what the Father, who is “the principle without principle“, receives. In the Godhead, there is the eternal exchange among the persons of the Blessed Trinity.

The “Maleness” of the Spirit: For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. [Cf. 1 Cor 2:10 (RSVCE)].

If God were not a Trinity as he has revealed himself, he would be blind and indifferent.

With the Father, God IS (I am Who AM).

With the Son, God is Truth (“You are True”) [or God is Light].

With the Holy Spirit, God is Love (“You are Lovely”), burning, yet not consumed [cf. Ex 3:1-3].

A Scientific Dissent From Darwinism

A Scientific Dissent From Darwinism “We are skeptical of claims for the ability of random mutation and natural selection to account for the complexity of life. Careful examination of the evidence for Darwinian theory should be encouraged.”

Darwin called his theory “descent with modification.” The phrase reflected Darwin’s belief that all organisms are modified descendants of a common ancestor that lived in the distant past.

The Virginal Marriage of Mary and Joseph – A Biblical Clue

Holy Family Icon | Monastery Icons

With the Incarnation, the “promises” and “figures” of the Old Testament become “reality”: places, persons, events and rites interrelate according to precise divine commands communicated by angels and received by creatures who are particularly sensitive to the voice of God. Mary is the Lord’s humble servant, prepared from eternity for the task of being the Mother of God. Joseph is the one whom God chose to be the “overseer of the Lord’s birth,”(27) the one who has the responsibility to look after the Son of God’s “ordained” entry into the world, in accordance with divine dispositions and human laws. All of the so-called “private” or “hidden” life of Jesus is entrusted to Joseph’s guardianship.[1]

The “figure” in the Old fully realized in the New is the person Joseph son of Jacob (In Matthew, Jacob is father of St. Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin).

Today’s ANTIPHON (Cf. Lk. 12:42):

Behold a faithful and prudent steward, whom the LORD set over his household. (My emphasis).

Joseph in the Old answers those who are possessed to claim that after the birth of Jesus, Mary and Joseph had marital relations i.e., that their marriage was no longer virginal:

8 But he refused and said to his master’s wife, “Lo, having me my master has no concern about anything in the house, and he has put everything that he has in my hand;9 he is not greater in this house than I am; nor has he kept back anything from me except yourself, because you are his wife; how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”  – Gen 39:8-9 (RSVCE).

Endnote

Mary and Joseph lived in the here and now what will be our state in the age to come:

Mark 12:24-25 (RSVCE)
24 Jesus said to them, “Is not this why you are wrong, that you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God? 25 For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.

Pope John Paul II > The Resurrection and Theological Anthropology

“That age” is not the world of the earth, but the world of God, who, as we know from the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians, will fill it entirely, becoming “everything to everyone” (1 Cor 15:28).

You are as unfaithful as adulterous wives; don’t you realize that making the world your friend is making God your enemy? Anyone who chooses the world for his friend turns himself into God’s enemy. Surely you don’t think scripture is wrong when it says: the spirit which he sent to live in us wants us for himself alone? But he has been even more generous to us, as scripture says: God opposes the proud but he gives generously to the humble. Give in to God, then; resist the devil, and he will run away from you. The nearer you go to God, the nearer he will come to you. Clean your hands, you sinners, and clear your minds, you waverers. Look at your wretched condition, and weep for it in misery; be miserable instead of laughing, gloomy instead of happy. Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will lift you up. Oratio Sancti Thomae Aquinatis Post Missam / Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas After Mass

[…] May it unite me more closely to Thee, the one true God and lead me safely through death to everlasting happiness with Thee. And I pray that Thou willest lead me, a sinner to the banquet where Thou with Thy Son and Holy Spirit, art true and perfect light, total fulfillment, everlasting joy, gladness without end, and perfect happiness to Thy saints. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen. (My emphasis)
